Good afternoon, First Grade Spanish Track Families,

We hope you’re ready for an exciting Spring semester! Here are a few relevant updates:

I Classroom

1) Mystery Readers: Many of you have asked about our Mystery Readers series. While our teachers are excited to offer this enriching experience, they are carefully balancing it with first-grade teaching priorities. As noted in today’s newsletter, in celebration of Black History Month, our teachers are looking for two volunteers to read in Ms. Hartness’ classroom (in English):

– Ms. Hartness Homeroom Parent: Thursday, Feb 6, 2:00-2:15

– Sra. Gomez Homeroom Parent: Wednesday, Feb 13, 2:00-2:15

Please email Ms. Hartness if you’re interested.

2) Valentine’s Day Celebration (Friday, Feb 14): If your child wants to participate in the homeroom valentine exchange, please see the teachers’ guidelines noted in their newsletter:

– Bring one valentine for each homeroom student (24 total).

– Optional: Additional valentines for select (or all) faculty and staff (but not for students in other homerooms).

– Preassembled: All valentines must be fully assembled, signed by the giver (no need to label recipients), and in envelopes if needed.

– No Edible Items: a small non-food trinket is allowed (e.g., pencil), but no food or candy.

– Send a small grocery bag to hold received valentines.

3) PTCC Auction Classroom Art Project and/or Basket (response by Friday, Feb 7): It’s time to celebrate the 10th Annual PTCC GLOBE Auction – one of our school’s most exciting and impactful fundraisers! Proceeds support teacher appreciation, classroom resources, cultural events, International Fest, campus beautification, and more. 

– What we need: one parent volunteer for each homeroom to lead either a classroom art project or themed basket for this year’s auction.

– Role: coordinate with students and parents/ room parents, develop ideas, and oversee the project’s completion.

– Last year’s projects were a big success, thanks to Danny’s parents (Dan & Holly) and Alfred’s parents (Cierra & Alfred)!

II) School Related and PTCC initiatives: Be sure to register on the newPTCC website to stay updated on events, volunteering, spirit wear, and news. 

1) Intent to Return Form Due Today (Jan 31): GLOBE has sent out an email requesting that current GLOBE families complete the “2025-26 Intent to Return” form. Click here to submit if you haven’t already.

2) Open Enrollment: If you’re applying for a new student, register for the Lottery via Lotterease during Open Enrollment (Jan 27–Feb 18). The Lottery drawing is on Feb 28. Questions? Email Admissions!

3) Volunteer Opportunities!

– Black History Month: Pick up a door decoration kit at the Lower Campus Front Office. Volunteers needed to hang them on Thu, Feb 6. Sign up here!
– Spring Events: Help with Exceptional Children’s Week or AANHPI Month—email PTCC Officers.
– PTCC Committees: Join Community & Fundraising PACS—contact PTCC Officers to learn more!
